The Day of Reckoning

How many of us remember what Reuben did in Gen.35:22? Well, He slept with Bilhah his father's concubine. When Jacob heard about it, he did nothing. In fact, he pretended not to have known I believe, and Reuben probably thought as much. But coming down to Gen.49, Reuben got the shock of his life. Even though Israel recognised him as the beginning of his strength and Excellency of dignity and power, he cursed him. Reuben must have been very excited when the father started with encouraging words but the last words of his statement were not in any way favourable to him.   "But unstable and boiling over like water, you shall not excel and have the preeminence [of the firstborn], because you went to your father’s bed; you defiled it—he went to my couch!" That was Jacob’s curse on Reuben.                                       What has heaven known you for which you are no longer living for? Think about it!
Simeon and Levi also did something terrible in Gen. 34:25 downward, they deceived and slew all the men in a land over the sin of one man who accepted his wrong and was ready to marry their sister. I know that rape is not acceptable but the man decided to marry Dinah and even agreed to their terms and condition. When this happened, Israel only relocated but kept their deeds in his heart and in chapter 49 he cursed them for their anger.  "Simeon and Levi are brothers [equally headstrong, deceitful, vindictive, and cruel]; their swords are weapons of violence". O my soul, come not into their secret council; unto their assembly let not my honor be united [for I knew nothing of their plot], because in their anger they slew men [an honored man, Shechem, and the Shechemites], and in their self-will they disabled oxen. Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel".
Gen. 49 was the day of reckoning for all Jacob's children. He blessed some and cursed some according to their deeds.
Beloved, there is a day of reckoning for every one of us and on that day we will be judged according to our deeds. How was your deeds been? You that lives your life how it pleases you, remember that your body is the temple of God and you must give account of how you used it while on earth. You abuse drugs not minding that you are destroying God's temple. You will give account. See! Unrighteousness does not pay, righteousness pays a lot and you can only be righteous when you receive Jesus into your life as your Saviour and Lord. Jesus loves you just the way you are. Come to Him, today!
Don’t wait until it’s too late, make a U-turn now!
