STEPS TO FOLLOW IN PRAYER

When you want to pray, there are steps you must follow for your prayers to be answered. First and foremost, we must establish the fact that Prayer is a universal act amongst mankind. Men and women have always and will always pray but some pray to an unknown God, some to man made god while others pray amiss.

Let's see how Jesus taught us to pray from Matthew 6:9-13
"9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen".

We must know God as our Father, there must be an existing relationship between us and the Father Whom we are offering our prayers to, the place of relationship should never be taken for granted. An understanding of who you are praying to, helps you to channel your prayers correctly.

The next thing is to worship Him, hallowed be thy name. Worship Him for Who He is, for His mercy, His loving kindness etc

Pray His will, that's thy kingdom come. The Bible is His will, you must pray in line with Bible, every prayer should have a Bible verse to back it up. Pray that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Pray for lost souls, fornicators, arm robbers etc.

Ask Him to supply your daily bread. Depend on Him to provide your need each passing day.

Ask for forgiveness, ask for mercy and also forgive anyone who has offended right at the place of prayer. Failure to forgive others, you won't be forgiven, so all your other prayers might not be granted. You must learn to forgive and also ask for God's mercy.

Take your stand against the enemy. Pray warfare prayer understanding that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Ask for divine guidance and direction.

End your prayer with praise and thanksgiving knowing that His kingdom is forever and ever. Declare His kingdom, His power, His glory etc
