Can I use my Tithe for Charity?

One thing I have seen Christians debate so much about is the issue of paying Tithe. Whenever the issue of tithe is been discussed in a Bible study group, you often hear things like; what if my tight is the only thing I have and I met someone dying knowing that my tithe can be used to save the person, if I use it to save that person, have I not paid my tithe? Since tithe is meant to be used to cater for the poor, what if I give it to those I know are in need of it? What if this, what if that? Why do we find all these excuses when it comes to paying of Tithe?

Your tithe is not meant for charity, it is God's portion, pay it! Allow the Pastors to decide how it will be used, they are the Priests even though we all are priests unto our God. If you feel that you are in a church where the use of tithe is been abused, then leave so that you won't use that as excuse for not paying your Tithe.

Your tithe can't be the only money you have because tithe is just 10% out of 100, what happened to the 90% you had? Was it that you spent the 90% before paying your Tithe?

Let's go to Ecclesiastes 3:1 "There's an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:". There is a right time to pay your tithe, when you pay it at the right time you won't have difficulty with it being your last money.

Let's see this practical example.

Peaceable Peace Ventures is owned by Peace Wobo and she brings Niko Niko as a partner and trusts her as steward to run the business. Peace Wobo told Niko Niko to always take 90% of the profit and pay her 10% at the end of each month. The month ends and Peace Wobo (the owner) didn't get her 10% and it continued repeatedly. When Peace Wobo approached Niko Niko, she told her that she used her share of the profit for charity work. How can you use my share to do charity work when I gave you 90%? How can you give out my money without asking me? That's greed, that stealing. That's exactly how we should see paying of tithe. Stop allowing people or yourself to deceive you. You are a steward, God gave you everything you have even the ability to work and He only requests 10% from you? Is He not a good Father, a good God?

Tithing is a test of stewardship and it is required of stewards to be found faithful.

I am also writing this to myself because I have defaulted at some point of my life as a Christian in paying my tithe but not anymore and I want that to be your stand as well.

In conclusion I present this scripture to you;

Malachi 3 (Message)

:7 You have a long history of ignoring my commands. You haven't done a thing I've told you. Return to me so I can return to you," says God-of-the-Angel-Armies. "You ask, 'But how do we return?'

:8 "Begin by being honest. Do honest people rob God? But you rob me day after day. "You ask, 'How have we robbed you?' "The tithe and the offering - that's how!'

:9 And now you're under a curse - the whole lot of you - because you're robbing me.

:10 Bring your full tithe to the Temple treasury so there will be ample provisions in my Temple. Test me in this and see if I don't open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams.

:11 For my part, I will defend you against marauders, protect your wheat fields and vegetable gardens against plunderers." The Message of God-of-the-Angel-Armies.

Before you argue that Malachi is Old Testament as if Old Testament is not part of the scriptures, don't forget the first person to pay tithe in the Bible and to whom he paid tithe. "And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered." (Gen.14:20)
