Truth from Second Samuel

What am about to share are lessons learnt from 2 Samuel Chapter 1-5 in the course of using Daily Guide from the 7th to 14th June, 2020. May it equally bless and meet you well.

Don't tell lies in order gain favours with anybody. Unrighteousness can never work out a right standing with God. There is punishment for every false news/life, it could be instant death.

In dealing with people, I need to always put their good deeds ahead of their bad deeds.
David never allowed Saul's bad deeds to override his good deeds.
Even though Saul sought to kill him severally, he still respected Saul as the anointed of the LORD and mourned at his death.

That tells us that we need to respect men of God because they are anointed by God, even when a man of God is no longer in line with the will of God, but we know that he was called by God but missed it somewhere or starts chasing things outside God's will, we need to pray for them and not disrespect them. I cannot judge another man's servant. A man of God is God's servant, allow God to judge him except he was never anointed by God.

No woman ever loved David like Jonathan. Love covers all sins and makes us do the right thing even outcome seems to be to our disadvantage physically.

Joab was not around when Abner visited but was told when returned. Who told Joab that Abner came to visit David and he had sent him away in peace? That person is as guilty Joab and his brother in the killing of Abner.
Peace, tame your tongue,  talebearing  is a sin that God hates. It can destroy things.

Support your leaders in every possible way that you could because that will pave way for you to become a leader tomorrow. 2 Samuel 5:2, David did all to see that Saul's tenure was peaceful and successful, don't frustrate the leadership of anybody, it will always come back to you. In all, we should know that our success is solely in God's hands. David succeeded because God was with him.

In summary:
God did not cause men to do violent deeds that helped clear the way for David to assume power. He did not move men to treachery and murder but the outworking of evil impulses in all their fury and cruelty was something that could, in the end, be used by Him for the effectual consummation of His purposes. Even in the midst of human war, wickedness, and wanton killing, God was yet working out His sovereign will.
This should tell you that; Even in the midst of Covid-19, the high death rate and economy meltdown, God is still working out His sovereign will for His children.
