Are you saved, then you are a debtor

 By Peace Wobo

Have you ever considered yourself a debtor after you were saved or better put, now that you are saved? Even though you owe no man nothing as in been indebted physically but am here to tell you that every Christian is a debtor or ought to live as a debtor to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Consciously living as a debtor is exactly what makes the difference between soul winners and non soul winners (soul winners live in consciousness of indebtedness). Soul winners reach out to people because they see themselves as debtors to everyone who is yet to be saved.

Let's see the Bible: Romans 1:14-17 KJV

I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.
So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

If you have the time, go through the whole passage before continuing.

Apostle Paul called himself debtor to everyone. Meaning that we are to preach to everyone we come contact with in this life with the knowledge of the fact that we owe them that much whether they be wise or unwise - preach to them. Besides, only the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ can make a man wise.

Wow! I am debtor. You are a debtor. We are debtors and we owe it first to our Lord Who has given us this commission and to mankind. We are debtors of His unfailing grace and mercy.

Let's see the Message Translation of Romans 1:14-17

14: Everyone I meet - it matters little whether they're mannered or rude, smart or simple - deepens my sense of interdependence and obligation.
:15 And that's why I can't wait to get to you in Rome, preaching this wonderful good news of God.:
16 It's news I'm most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God's powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else!
:17 God's way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what Scripture has said all along: "The person in right standing before God by trusting him really lives." Ignoring God Leads to a Downward Spiral.

We owe this gospel to everyone we meet, whether they are well mannered or rude, smart or simple, we owe them the gospel. The only thing that can make us preach to the rude and unwise is understanding that we are indebted to do so. When you owe somebody you must pay your debt not minding who the person is or the person's attitude, the day you pay you will have a relief in yourself that you are free from debt. That's what Apostle Paul was simply saying.

I am debtor, I carry this burden everyday and everywhere I go. It is a burden he carries, burden because he is concerned for souls that are perishing because he was once in their shoes but it is beautiful, wonderful and fulfilling to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ everyday and everywhere we go knowing that we are under obligation to do so.

Lord, help me to realise that am a debtor and to live up to heaven's expectation for my life everyday in Jesus name. Amen
