FAMOUS BUT LEPROUS

Naaman was a commander of the army of Syria. He was a good commander and was held in high esteem because through him the LORD had given victory to Syria. Yet Naaman was a leper. Do you know what it means? He was carrying a disease about. He was sick, despite his fame and power, he couldn't conquer that which was eating him up. He was totally helpless. A general that could conquer any army that comes up against him was been conquered by the enemy through the spirit of infirmity. Our success in circular world: career, business, endeavours, academics and what have you doesn't guarantee spiritual success. A man who is not born again can be doing very well financially but he's soul is sick and leprous. The enemy torments him with pain and discomfort everyday and his money, connection and power will not be able to save him until he surrenders to Jesus.

Fortunately, Naaman’s wife had a servant girl from Israel who said that a prophet there would be able to heal him. Naaman tells his lord this and he is sent to Israel with a letter to the king. 

Let's see 2Kings 5:1-4  
"1. Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.

2. Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 3. She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

4. Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said". Let's stop here with the reading.

Just like Naaman, this world is full of people who are generals in their fields of endeavour, who by their success and human standard have become honourable and great but are diseased internally and spiritually. Unless, like the young Jewish slave we share the hope of God's salvation and healing with them, their leprosy will eat them up. 

Thought: When last did you tell someone about Jesus? Don't forget that someone's healing, hope and salvation is tied to you.

Your current position should not be an excuse to preaching the gospel. Learn from this servant girl who knew her God and what her God can do and wasn't selfish to keep it to herself. Tell somebody about Jesus today.
