WHY TAKE HONORARIUM?

Why Take Honorarium?
Hello Peaceable readers, Today, I will be talking about "Honorarium". Is it right for ministers to accept honorarium? Some people will love this one because it involves ministers of God.
First and foremost; let's establish the meaning of the key word. Honorarium according to English Dictionary is defined as "Compensation for services that do not have a predetermined value".  Compensation is the act of compensating and to compensate means to  "pay or reward someone in exchange for work done or some other consideration".
Predetermine means to determine or decide in advance". Value means "The quality that renders something valuable or desirable".

Now, you see that the value of service ministers render cannot be decided in advance, that's because it's not a secular kind of job that salary and wages must be discussed and agreed upon.

Yes! Ministers deserve honorarium and if you think that men of God should not be given honorarium then why should you be paid wages/salary for the services you render as a worker/labourer? A labourer is worthy of his wages. Ministers deserve honorarium because they are labourers in the vineyard.
Jesus Himself said this words in
Luke 10
[1] After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
[2] Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
[3] Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
[4] Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
[5] And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
[6] And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
[7] And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

Ministers are called and Ordained by God, that does not mean that they are no longer humans with needs just like you and I. Besides, they need money to successfully do the work committed into their hands but it becomes very bad if a minister invited to minister puts a price tag as his/her honorarium. Honorarium is not something you discuss in advance rather it's a reward for a value rendered and you don't tell a rewarder what your reward should be.
Unfortunately, some have abused this and uses it as a means to exploit people which is very bad.
Fortunately, we don't have such Ministers in my church.
Some ministers will give you condition before they can come to your Church to minister, some are selective of the Churches they accept their invitation to come and preach probably because they've calculated that good honorarium can't come from there. This is so not right. The service is to God. It is possible for a minister to be constrained by the Holy Spirit not to minister in a particular area or go to a particular church at a specific time, after all, that happened to Paul and Silas but a minister should not refuse an invitation without the leading of the Holy Spirit just for his/her selfish gain.
