Dear readers, it is my pleasure to present Romans 5:20 to you today which says "But then Law came in, [only] to expand and increase the trespass [making it more apparent and exciting opposition]. But where sin increased and abounded, grace (God’s unmerited favor) has surpassed it and increased the more and super abounded" (Amplified).
Let's look at the same Scripture in KJV as well "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:". What then is Sin and what is grace? Sin according to the English Dictionary is a violation of a moral or religious law; an error. A misdeed.
As an acronym it means:
S: Satan's
I: Identification
N: Number
Whereas Grace according to the same Dictionary is Free and undeserved favour, especially of God. Unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification.
The B part of our key text says: But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: Jesus Christ came grace for grace. This means that where sin is reigning as in unrighteousness and all sorts of evil, you that have received Jesus has abundant grace to live above sin that's why Romans 6:14 says; For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law but under grace.
I will conclude here by saying that anyone that lives in sin is still under the law therefore the person is not under grace, plainly put; the person has not yet accepted Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour.
Finally; The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it).
