Check if you have Esau's Syndrome

Genesis 25 (NIV)
30:He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.)
31:Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.”

Why studying the Bible last night, the Lord started laying some important lessons in my heart from this passage concerning Esau's attitude and how a lot of young people are still behaving like Esau today.

From the passage, I couldn't actually see the connection with food and birthright. What has been hungry got to do with sell me your birthright? They are in no way connected. Tangible thing for an intangible but most important. Yet Esau sold it out cheaply for ordinary food. I know that hunger is a terrible thing but self control has preserved a lot of people from eating poisoned foods even though they were hungry.
Now, this is how the devil has offered a lot of young people food, outing, money, fun, in exchange for their destiny and like Esau they are cheaply selling it.
It is unfortunate that many young people will sell away their destinies today all in the name of valentine. Some will lose their virginity today and even add pregnancy to it as an achievement.

You may look at the story of Esau now and conclude that Esau was foolish to have done what he did but a lot of young people are still behaving like Esau, selling away their body and virginity so cheaply for things that money can buy. You feel if you lose that guy that is asking you for sex now you may never find someone to love you or you would die without him or her. Really, go ask Esau what happened after he sold his birthright for ordinary food. Learn self control.

What are you planning to exchange today for ordinary outing, food, drinks all in the name of love? Love does no harm to the neighbour, love doesn't lead us astray but lust does.
Why would you cheaply exchange your body (birthright, destiny) for worthless things? That boy or girl has been asking you to sleep with them as a proof of your love and you plan to do that today. When you do that, you are just like Esau. There's no difference at all.
You sell your birthright anytime you commit fornication, steal, lie and cheat.

Anything that comes with urgency, watch it! It's not genuine and it might destroy you eventually. Don't let your flesh deceive you by controlling you today, you are in charge, so be in charge by exercising control over your body.
If the temptation is high, stay with the Word, avoid friends that will suggest sin to you, attend a Christian gathering and keep praying.

Hebrews Chapter 12
16: Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God's lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite.
17: You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God's blessing--but by then it was too late, tears or no tears. The Message Bible

1 Corinthians 3: 16
NIV:Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
17
:If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

If you are opportuned to read this, then the Lord has sent His word ahead of you to warn you before you go ahead to ruin your life. Run away from sin before sin destroys you. Don't give your body to anybody today or any other day and if you have been living in fornication, there's forgiveness for you, just come to Jesus, you can live a sin free life.
