What you need to know about a Minister

By constant learning I have come to discover that sometimes it is good to know the original meaning of a word used in the Bible for indepth understanding of a particular Bible passage. I often quote

Psalms 104:4 which is also found in Hebrews 1:7 "Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:" especially when praying for ministers but I understood this Scripture better the day I knew the original word and meaning of "ministers" and now I pray it with better understanding and because am not selfish I have decided to share this knowledge with you knowing you will be blessed. 

The original word for "ministers" is a Hebrew word "Sharat". Sharat means someone who waits on, who serves, who ministers, who attends. Now, I know beyond the English meaning or definition of ministers which is "A person who is trained to perform religious ceremonies at a Protestant church.

A politician who heads a ministry (national or regional government department for public service)".

Sharat here talks of someone who waits on. So Sharat hints of intimacy referring to those servants who serves in closest proximity to the king. God makes this ministers who wait on Him a flame of fire. Knowing this now gives me a better understanding of Psa.104:4 and now I pray it better.

Not every minister in the house of God can be made a flame of fire but those who wait on Him daily and serve in closest proximity to the Father.

Another thing I discovered is the original word for "patience". It's a Greek word "hupomone" which means, constancy, perseverance, continuance, bearing up, steadfastness, patient endurance. So, when the scripture talks about patient as a fruit of the Spirit, it's talking about everything mentioned above. Don't consider yourself to have been patient enough if you have not been consistent, constant and steadfast in serving God especially at difficult times. You must be able to bear up and patiently endure knowing that the Scriptures are your source of constancy. According to Bob Sorge; "Not only do the Scriptures bear us up and enable us to endure but the witness of God's purposes and ways is consistent from Genesis to Revelations".

Even the Scriptures are patient and comforting.  Romans15:4 "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."
