Topic: Building Partnership for Productive Ministry (Pastor and Pastor's wife)

Bible Example of Acquila and Priscilla

There is nothing wrong with couples serving and supporting each other in ministry.

We are at different so use what you hear here at your own level to make impact because it is scripturally based.

For husband and wife ministry team to be successful, there are few things they need to do.

Below are things you need for husband and wife ministry to be impactful:

1. Love God without reservation Matthew 22:37-38. If you function without disconnecting then you become fruitful. It is not first and foremost about doing but about being, it is who you have become that affects what you are doing. The fruit of the life impacted by God affects people around you. Nobody can be effective and impactive in ministry without love for God. You can't make it in ministry when you disconnect from God

2. Love your spouse 1 Corin 13:4-7. This love you cannot naturally accomplish it, it is humanly impossible. It is only possible when you allow God do it through you

3. Be an example - model good character

4. Walk in agreement - Eccl4:9-10

5. Accept your uniqueness - you have to understand your uniqueness and accept it. Families are unique, husbands and wives are unique.

6. Compliment each other don't compete. God has called you to compliment each other not to compete

7. Deal with insecurity - be a secure wife, be a secure husband. If you are in marriage and in ministry and you are not secured, you will literally suspect anything and you can destroy a lot of things. You feel insecured when you are trusting in your ability. You are an idol worshipper when you feel insecured because you are focusing on yourself and you must know that it's not everybody that will accept you. Find your strength in God, you are complete in Him. Your uniqueness is your story, what the enemy wants to use and shame you is what God wants to use to make your story. An insecured couple in ministry will fail. There is a difference between the spirit of discernment and the spirit of suspicion. The spirit of suspicion is not a spiritual gift.

8. Encourage your spouse - be your spouse's encourager. Be their greatest cheerleader and supporter. 1Thess.5:11

9. Develop yourselves - be intentional about developing yourselves. Learn, read. Know where you are and where you want to get to. Develop your leadership skills, communication skills and writing skills. All these helps you connect better as husband and wife and also helps you connect with people God has given you.

10. Walk in forgiveness - the weight of un-forgiveness is so impactful that it won't let you become effective in ministry. Un-forgiveness is a poison.

11. Seek help when it is necessary - don't die in silence

12. Develop boundaries - build boundaries in your relationship with the opposite sex, with tv, with social media and your phones.

13. Develop the right pace - in life, in family, in ministry. Develop a pace that is healthy for you and in line with God's instruction for you and your ministry. Genesis 33:13-14. When you drive too hard, you will kill your spiritual children and flocks

14. Get a mentor - a mentor for both of you. Get a mentor not a tormentor.

7 Areas to Focus on:

1. Spiritual - grow together. Develop spiritual values together. Pray with and for each other. Luke 2:40

2. Health - Stay healthy, get whatever works for you. Do your vitals, check yourself, be concerned about your health.

3. Family - function as a team. Have family values. Have vision. Design a plan together. Stay in love as a family. Make it a habit to celebrate as a family. Anything the church sees you practice they practice. Defend and cover your spouse in church and in your family. Plan your family calender together

4. Ministry - Know your gift. Determine the roles - discuss and itemize the roles. Don't assume anything. Mentor people to lead. Take your responsibility seriously, whatever you have to do, do it excellently. Ministry and marriage requires sacrifice

5. Finances - your financial well being matters. Develop the right values as a minister concerning finances. It's not money first, it's value first. Be generous in giving. If your finances are not in order you won't have the boldness to talk to church members about finances

6. Fun - plan to have fun together. Play games, do fun things that works for you two.

7. Finish well - make sure you finish well. Have eternity in view. The essence of ministry is to make heaven at last.
