The government is not our problem, hear me and hear me well, we are our problem. It is baffling as to how people can be so selfish and wicked to their fellows while blaming the government for the state of our economy. Yes, the government may have failed us. The government may have jeopardized our rights for their own benefit and for the benefits of their unborn generation. They may have sold us to foreign lands for personal and selfish gains. But, what about you and I? What have you done with the little authority God has given you in your place of work? As a manger in your workplace, how have you managed resources left under your care? How can we claim to be Christians but join unbelievers in perpetrating evil? How can you boldly carry 10% of money you defrauded people to give to God as Tithe and you think it's acceptable? Do you not fear God? Wait! don't you know that denying someone what rightly belongs to him/her is fraud?
Everybody is attacking Yahoo Boys and the likes of Hushpuppies. We complain about the Yahoo Boys that use laptop and operate from their houses but nobody complains about the senior Yahoo Boys on corporate attires with white collar majestically marching to the office every morning. Who mentions the Yahoo Boys in offices, they wear suit, dress corporate yet defraud people with their white collar. Such Yahoo Boys are never looked for, never arrested, never tagged as bad people yet they are seriously into Yahoo business in the same organisation where they work and receive salaries monthly. But do you know what? Nemesis catches up with them! God's judgement comes upon them suddenly!
You have opportunity to distribute grant to the poor, you give them 10 or 20% while keeping the rest to yourself in addition to the huge amount you were paid for the work. You have an opportunity to distribute scholarship to students, the money is not yours and you are been paid for your job but you gather people around knowing that they sincerely need money and then use them to enrich yourself while leaving them with peanuts. You use their names and account details to process the grant while depriving the right people that could have benefitted from such. You dash them 10% and amass the rest to yourself and you claim to be helping lives, how? You are wicked! You are a fraudster! You look very responsible giving people the impression that you are helping them whereas you are cheating and stealing from them.
I was pondering lately as to why some rich young people die early. Why is it that some of them end up nursing some deadly diseases for the rest of their lives? They try everything medical, yet no cure. Well, let me show you something from the Scriptures.
Deuteronomy 25: 13 “You must use accurate scales when you weigh out merchandise, 14 and you must use full and honest measures. 15 Yes, always use honest weights and measures, so that you may enjoy a long life in the land the Lord your God is giving you. 16 All who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the Lord your God.
Micah 2:1 What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night,
thinking up evil plans.
You rise at dawn and hurry to carry them out,
simply because you have the power to do so.
2 When you want a piece of land,
you find a way to seize it.
When you want someone’s house,
you take it by fraud and violence.
You cheat a man of his property,
stealing his family’s inheritance.
3 But this is what the Lord says:
“I will reward your evil with evil;
you won’t be able to pull your neck out of the noose.
You will no longer walk around proudly,
for it will be a terrible time.
Jeremiah 17 : 11 Like a partridge that hatches eggs she has not laid,
so are those who get their wealth by unjust means.
At midlife they will lose their riches;
in the end, they will become poor old fools.
God's judgement and punishment for such evil is clear enough. There is no negotiation. Why would you gather wealth that will disappear when you can no longer hustle for money?
It is unfortunate that most people only think of themselves without caring about others. That's selfishness, am not against thinking about oneself but if you can do it at the detriment of another you are a wicked and selfish person and you have no moral justification to speak against our government.
Let's be more humane. Let's make Nigeria a more comfortable and loving place to live in. Let's mean love from our heart. Greed kills.
