DISOBEDIENCE OFTEN RESULTS TO CASUALTY

By Peace Wobo

I will be sharing some personal and Biblical experiences to drive home my point. It is my prayer that as you read through, the LORD GOD will speak to your heart specifically and disobedience will never again be our lot in Jesus name, Amen.

One amazing thing to the Christian is how God has lavishly loved us. Don't mistake me, God so loved the world ( everybody) sinners inclusive but the moment we accept Jesus, we often move to another level of His lavishing love. God begins to jealously guard and guide us, He disciplines and corrects us. He begins to personally invest into our lives. He teaches us personally and gives us opportunity to learn as He takes us through processes to become what He wants us to be. God doesn't invest on any man to live outside His will, No way! He is not a waster of resources.

So, when God has so much invested in us, it's usually for a higher calling - it doesn't mean that the person must become a pastor but He uses him/her to do great things in his/her field and surrounding environment. It is always remarkable.

Now, on the main issue. Disobedience often results to casualty or death. I will be focusing on those who knew God's instruction on a matter concerning their lives but still did otherwise, am talking about hearing God clearly but still walk in disobedience or knowing what God wants for your life but do otherwise due to life pressures, though sometimes not intentionally but every disobedience has its own consequences whether it was intentional or not.
First and foremost, let's start with the first people that disobeyed God and the consequences thereof:
1. Adam and Eve - God clearly instructed Adam not to eat the Fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil- very clear and specific but what did they do?
Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
17: but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
Disobedience brings death - it could be spiritual death sometimes like in this case. So, it's possible to be in church but spiritually dead.
7:When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
8:Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9:But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10:He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11:And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12:The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13:Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
16:To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”
17:To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.
18:It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
19:By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
22:And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
23:So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.
Disobedience makes you naked because it takes you out of God's presence and protection (you leave His covering). It drives you away from the Garden that the Lord put you in and brings you to a place of constant suffering and struggle.

2. Let's also consider Lot's wife - God clearly asked them not to look back but she did and became a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:17 As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!
26: But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
She paid heavily for her disobedience.

I Can go on and on to talk about Cain, Jonah, King Saul and so many others but I believe we are quite familiar with those stories.

Now, my own personal experience and the consequences suffered of which the mark has not left me. Kai! Disobedience is terrible... Not that I deliberately disobeyed or wanted to but I allowed worries to influence my decision and that was because I needed a job badly in 2022 but no well paid job was coming up till towards the end of the year, I was connected to a startup business and was hired but from the first day the person asked me to send in my CV, I strongly heard in my spirit that this is not the kind of job I wanted, in fact, I was very sure that it's not the job I've been praying for but I still went ahead to take the job because I needed one. A week into the job I had an accident that almost destroyed one of my legs. With it I still carried on with the job until I couldn't because the leg was getting worst, then I paused to reflect over my life and went back to God in prayers, this time I was certain that God didn't want me there so I didn't listen to anybody that encouraged me to continue the job, I made up my mind to quit and just one brother and friend encouraged me to quit, in fact he was one person God used to really help me take the right decision to resign. It was a tough one because the people loved me and really wanted me back, I also wanted to help grow the place but staying there would be outside God's covering and I would be exposed to more dangers. It had nothing to do with the establishment, it was a wonderful place and the owners are wonderful down to earth people but it was about me and where God wanted me to be and what He wanted for my life.

Beloved, if God doesn't give you an answer of peace in any decision you are taking, please don't go ahead.
