Let's start from the very beginning of this matter but before then I want to emphatically tell you that the circumstances surrounding your birth or how you were born does not determine your worth in life or who you turn out to be in life. Even if you were born out of incest, know that God loves you as equally as He loves those born in godly homes.
The message is not to encourage incest but not to let circumstances you didn't have control over nor decisions you never made define your worth in life. You are not responsible for the circumstances surrounding your birth.
I will sharing an interesting story with you. So, join me as we read through Genesis 19 from :36 As a result, both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their own father. 37 When the older daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Moab. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Moabites. 38 When the younger daughter gave birth to a son, she named him Ben-ammi. He became the ancestor of the nation now known as the Ammonites. NLT
Today, I want to tell you about a Moabite called Ruth. That's why it was necessary that we read Genesis to get understanding of how Moab or the Moabites came to be. No one would have ever imagined that someone from such an ugly linage will make the list of Jesus genealogy.
If God were to be a man, Ruth wouldn't have qualified for such, but God is not a man and does not judge the way man judges. God does not disqualify a man due to his/her birth circumstances or their parents mistake. God gives everyone born an equal opportunity to choose between life and death not minding how they were born but what matters is the choices they make in life. Their choices would define them and how they would end up.
Moab was born out of incest but a Moabite woman decided to live a different life and she was recorded in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ, her name is Ruth. Ruth 1:1 In the days when the judges ruled in Israel, a severe famine came upon the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah left his home and went to live in the country of Moab, taking his wife and two sons with him. 2 The man’s name was Elimelech, and his wife was Naomi. Their two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in the land of Judah. And when they reached Moab, they settled there. 3 Then Elimelech died, and Naomi was left with her two sons. 4 The two sons married Moabite women. One married a woman named Orpah, and the other a woman named Ruth. But about ten years later, 5 both Mahlon and Kilion died. This left Naomi alone, without her two sons or her husband.
Matthew 1: 5 Salmon was the father of Boaz (whose mother was Rahab). Boaz was the father of Obed (whose mother was Ruth). Obed was the father of Jesse. 6 Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the widow of Uriah). You can do well to read the whole account of Matthew chapter 1 from verse 1.
When the genealogy was recorded only father's were mentioned till it got to Rehab, Ruth and Bethsheba, the Bible was intentional about mentioning those women because of their personalities in the society. They weren't qualified by man's standard to make that list but that's story for another day though.
The message I bring you here is simple: how you were born is not an excuse but how you choose to live your life. It is the choices you make in life that will determine your outcome in life and not necessarily the family you were born into or the circumstances surrounding your birth.
Even when God judged Maob (you can see this in Isaiah chapter 15-16 and Jeremiah 48) it wasn't based on their birth history but because they became arrogant, full of pride and disregarded God in their ways. They trusted in their abilities and strength.
God never judges anyone based on the circumstances surrounding their birth but based on the choices they make in life. Even if you were born by a prostitute or you don't even know your father, don't let anyone put you down for that. It wasn't your fault so you aren't responsible for that neither will God condemn you or judge you based on that, there are lots of examples in the Bible to prove this. You are only responsible for the choices you make. So I counsel you today to Chose Wisely.
